World Health Organization have chipped in concerning the land saga witnessed between Kenyatta University former Vice Chancellor and the incumbent president, Uhuru Kenyatta. Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO regional director for Africa stated that they received government approval to build the WHO hub at Kenyatta University’s land . She further added that they had contacted the ministry’s of foreign affairs and health .
Explaining the purposes of the WHO hub. Dr Moeti said the emergency hub will store medical equipments . The equipments will then be deployed to the field in a bid to hasten health emergencies in Eastern and Southern Africa.
,”We must act now to contain zoonotic diseases before they can cause widespread infections and stop Africa from becoming a hotspot for emerging infectious diseases,” Dr Moeti stated .
Statistics reveal that Africa as a continent faces more than 100 health emergencies annually.
The WHO released a report on Thursday showing that in the past 10 years zootonic diseases have risen by 63% compared to the previous decade. Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha distanced himself from the land saga
,”Everything I do is for the general public starting with being obedient to my employer and serving the children, I am appointed to do my job by the President whom I take directives from,” the CS stated while speaking at Pumwani boys High School. Professor Magoha claimed that all land belongs to the government .
,”Government owns everything and if by the wisdom of the government which is headed by the President who works with cabinet ministers including the deputy president, pronounces itself in a manner that you feel repugnant to you as a person, the most honorable thing is to walk away,’
Magoha added .
On Wednesday Kenyatta University students protested the sacking of professor Wainaina.
