Uhuru Kenyatta addresses the Rising price of Commodities like Unga

Head of state and incumbent president Uhuru Kenyatta has addressed the rise of unga prices further directing the retail price to lower to 100ksh .

This is in a bid to reduce the high cost of living that is being witnessed by Kenyans. Addressing the nation the president said that the subsidies are meant to lessen the cost of living for vulnerable house holds as the government looks for a solution to the recurrent rising prices of prices in the country.

,’My appeal to the political class is to exercise civic responsibility. To politicise the pain of the vulnerable without offering solutions is to mock the lifestyle of the same voters the politicians are appealing to,’ said the president.

 

Uhuru added that every election period the price of commodities more so unga rises every time. From 2012 the price of unga rose from ksh 70 to 130. Three months to the 2017 general election the price rose to 189ksh. This year the price of unga is at ksh 210.

During the deputy president presidential’s debate Irathi Gachagua claimed that the reduction of the unga prices is in a bid to lure Kenyans to vote for Azimio La Umoja coalition. With only less than 20 days to go to the August polls every presidential aspirant pulling their strings.

Kenya kwanza and Azimio are the favorites in the presidential elections. Gachagua faced off with Azimio’s deputy flag bearer’s hopeful Martha Karua.
