by Jayden Musembi

A depressed man is unable to carry on his tasks in the right manner. However, it is important to note that men showcase some behavioural traits when they are depressed. For example, alcohol and drug abuse tends to affect depressed men more as compared to women.

In many instances, depressed men have the capability to showcase anger and risk- taking behaviors. You will notice the following behavioural changes from a depressed man.

Drinking More Alcohol/Starts Taking Alcohol
In many cases, a man who wasn’ t drinking begins the habit. He tends to do it to relieve stress and try to forget all that happened. Well, in a case where he was taking alcohol, you may notice him overdoing it by drinking more and increasing the frequency of taking it as well. Alcohol has been branded as the main item that depressed men go for to try and forget their problems for a while.

Avoiding Family Meetings/Social Gatherings
A man may begin to shift away from family meetings and resolve to staying alone instead. This may be a clear sign that he needs immediate help. However, where there is no peace, a man may distance himself, and this could mean a different problem. If he was a fan of attending social gatherings and he begins to shift, then he could be depressed.

Working Obsessively
A man with a lot in his mind may decide to overwork. This is very common in men who do office jobs. He might decide to stay in the office till late in the night.

Running Away From Responsibilities/Work
Some men find it so hard to work when they are depressed. They fail to attend to work and resolve to stay locked up in their house s. Some fail to do some home chores just because they are stressed up.

Becoming More Controlling/Abusive
Some men become so toxic when they result to depression. This trait is similar in relationships, especially to men whose anger is hard to control.
