Kenyan campaigns continue to take turns and twists as Kenya Kwanza And Azimio La Umoja supporters clash at Jacaranda Grounds forcing police to fire tear gas in a bid to dispatch the two crowds.
Kenya Kwanza claim to have booked Jacaranda Grounds for a campaign and also Azimio La Umoja under Babu Owino has claimed to have booked the same venue for campaigns.
Kenya’s Kwanza’s Flag Bearer William Ruto, was to attend a church service in Roysambu then address his supporters at Jacaranda.
On June 15th , Babu Owino claims to have booked the venue through a letter to The Embakasi Police boss . He wrote
,’I write to inform you that I will be having a function at the Jacaranda grounds this coming Sunday from 10am to 5pm. I have been mobilising members of the public to attend the event through social media and I have information that an opportunistic outfit allied to Tanga Tanga leader Ruto are also claiming that they want to hold a political event at the same venue on the same date and time,”
Edwin Sifuna, the ODM secretary general addressing nation said they had planned to have the campaign rally but the police said the venue was double booked thus a cancellation of the events.
Kenya Kwanza’s Millicent Omanga also stated they were the only ones who had booked the venue claiming she has proof urging their supporters to show up in numbers claiming Nairobi is a hustler city.
This is not the first time this is happening as political analysts raising the issue of proper planning to avoid such clashing.
