Residents of Kajiado are utterly shocked after a mega bridge built was carried away by torrential rains barely few days after its unveiling.
The bridge which links Kajiado East, South and Central is believed to have cost upwards of KSh 100 million. While commissioning the structure, Governor Ole Lenku had expressed admiration for it claiming that it would enable travel for residents amid high rain seasons and floods.
In the morning of February 24, inhabitants of Kajiado were startled after realizing that the project was swept away by severe rain. Speaking to local news outlets, Jackson Limo, a resident of Kajiado had this to say:
“Our pleasure has been short-lived. This is a sign that the contractor did a really bad job. The flash floods’ severity was not sufficient to trigger the collapse of a bridge of such scale. We are sad.”
